Stop Your Poison

Does my confidence surprise you?
It shelters me from your piercing lies

Does my passion threaten you?

It shields me from your staring eyes

Rest assured that this confidence grew
From a tiny weak seedling inside
It took years for it to brew
Now it is strong and will never hide

My passion is a colorful canvass
With shades of red, yellow and blue
It will never break for it is not glass
It only grows, determined to shine through

Your stabbing words, envy and deceit
Will turn your soul a darker shade
Fill your insides with poisonous conceit
And help you slowly wither and fade

Keep your toxic feelings to yourself
Dust your conscience that’s on the shelf
Stop the negativity from escaping your head
Or your blood will soon turn to lead

Does my confidence surprise you?
It shelters me from your piercing lies

Does my passion threaten you?

It shields me from your staring eyes
